Back to Work Blues
When I feel down or have to work late, I just think of the positives. I think about how much fun she has a daycare. I think about how lucky I am to have a husband who works decent hours. However, everyday around 4:45, I start packing up and getting giddy just thinking about seeing her. When 5pm hits, I am out so fast and don't look back. Work used to be such a priority of mine but now it has fallen so much lower on my list :)

Best Month Of My Life
Some mornings I wake up after only a few hours of sleep and am grumpy then all it takes is a quick look at her to realize it is all worth it. I am normally a high strung person who is always on the go but when it is 3am and it is just her and I sitting in silence, I truly enjoy every second of that bonding experience. I LOVE being a mother!! What a learning experience though.
I am so excited for the next many months to come and to continue to enjoy every second of this bundle of joy <3

2. Nothing is better than a simple smile
3. Patience is a virtue
4. Sleep...you really don't need that much
5. Support from an amazing husband means so much

Featured Vendor - Libbie & Winston
Here are a few of my favorites:
Q&A with Anna:
What motivated you to start Libbie Winston?
It really all started before I even knew I was pregnant! I was trying to find a way to tell my husband that I was pregnant {even though I wasn't yet} and decided I would use our dogs, Libbie and Winston, to tell him. I made "big brother/sister" shirts for the dogs with an iron-on transfer. Once I did actually find out I was pregnant, I couldn't keep the secret long enough from my husband to even put the shirts on the dogs, so we decided to use the shirts as a way to tell our parents. We took a cute picture of the dogs in the shirts, made a card on kodak and mailed it to them to announce my pregnancy. Fast-forward 9 months...I had also seen the 1-12 month stickers and wanted a way to document my baby's growth in the first year. I decided to make her onesies the same way I made the dog shirts, a few facebook posts and friend requests later, Libbie & Winston was born! Over the past few months the business has grown from just onesies, to kids shirts, wall art and more!
What exactly does Libbie Winston entail?
Libbie and Winston is about fun, customizable tees for babies and kids. Our 1-12 month onesie sets are the PERFECT baby shower gift! For our photo obsessed generation {me included!}, this set is such a fun way to document your baby's first year! The kids tees are great for birthdays, playdates, special moments, picture announcements - you get the idea - the possibilities are endless! Tees and onesies can be customized to suit you. Choose from any designs shown on facebook or email me if you have something else in mind. We also offer birth announcement wall hangings - a fun graphic piece to add to your child's nursery. Our "shhh" door tags {the newest item in the line} are the perfect way to keep the pesky delivery guys from waking your sleeping baby!
What advice do you give to other entrepreneurs?
Follow your dreams - as cliche as it sounds...it's so true!
What are 3 things people don't know about you?
I actually have my master's in interior design - but am a self-taught graphic designer. I'm a complete neat-freak and CANNOT stand clutter! I'm a reality TV junkie {love anything housewives or bachelorette}!

Emily Grace
Well Emily came a few weeks early, but we are so happy to have her home. Many people told me how motherhood can be but experiencing it for the first time the last few weeks has had many ups and downs. As little sleep as I may have or hours of trying to get her to breastfeed, all I need to do is look at her and I quickly realize everything is worth it. She truly is my heart and I cannot wait to continue to grow as a mom with her.

Featured Vendor: Hot Mama Gowns
Here are a few of my fav Hot Mama Gowns:

Q&A with Deidrea of Hot Mama Gowns:
*What does Hot Mama Gowns entail?
Hot Mama Gowns are the 1st and only hospital maternity gowns (also known as delivery gowns) made of 100% Organic Cotton, sized to fit Mom before/during and after birth and also DESIGNED for breastfeeding! They allow Mom to be celebrated on this joyous day! They are made of 100% Organic Cotton, sized (six available sizes XS-XXL) to fit just about every shape Mommy and bump. Designed for breastfeeding; there are two individual panels which allow Mom quick, easy and discreet access to her breasts while remaining completely covered! While Mom is nursing, her other side is completely covered (something not found with generic hospital gowns; with generic hospital gowns you have to completely remove your arm from the gowns to gain access, all while exposing your entire post-partum belly and breasts to a room full of people!)
With Hot Mama Gowns Mom can wear her gown for labor, delivery and then for months afterwards as cute nursing pajamas. They also boast a full snap-down back to keep Mom’s “ass”ets covered while she’s walking the Labor and Delivery floor!
*What advice can you give to other female entrepreneurs?
The best advice I can offer is be yourself at every stage of the game. Don’t worry about being what others “expect” you to be, or accomplishing goals the “right” way, I always say “Do You”. Being authentic and transparent is so important to your brand and network. No matter what your personality style, no matter what your strengths, and no matter what your quirks are; people still want to see and know YOU! YOU are such a big part of your brand, company, services, etc. Your brand/company will be so much more and have so much more success when you start being true to yourself and letting others see the YOU behind the brand/business! Just my dollar and two cents!
*What are three things people don't know about you or your company?
This one is a little challenging because I like to be transparent about Hot Mama Gowns and the goings on here! Let me think… We’ve added hand-knit “Lil Monkey Hats” to our website. They are the perfect add-on to any HMG order because it’s something for the baby, a necessity to keep the baby warm and MUCH better than the stand issue they plop on the baby’s head at the hospital. Well, those hats have hang tags attached, tied with a ribbon; a perfect, little dainty ribbon. Those are lovingly tied by my 5 year old daughter and she takes SO much pleasure in helping Mommy and seeing her perfect bows! The second unknown about HMG is I buy everything in bulk; I have on hand thousands of yards of fabric, well over a thousand custom HMG boxes, and the list goes on!! And a huge perk is I always have fabric on hand for my sister to sew pretty dresses, make handbags, diaper covers and whatever her creative heart desires! And my daughter LOVES when Aunt LeAnn makes her something! And lastly, something people don’t know about me or that might surprise them; I am SO low maintenance! I rarely wear makeup, I don’t own a blow dryer (and have you SEEN how much hair I have!! LOL) and I don’t own any hair product (nothing...zip...really, nothing!) And now that you’re done reading this you’re thinking I’m a total slob!! But, I’m just “Doing Me”!

Day 1: Operation Relax
Since Baby L may arrive early, I really need to get my hospital bag packed and all the "must haves" for when the baby to come home. This means a trip to Babies R Us and Target. Not the most non-stressful shops but my trusty list should help make it a breeze!! I mean we cannot not have wipes :)

30 Week Update
I went to the doctors last night and she told me to eat less salt and sodium because I am really swollen. My feet actually hurt. Even flats are hard to wear nowadays. I am sure this HOT summer weather does not help either!
Other than that, I am just so excited for this bundle of joy to arrive and am praying for a healthy and quick next few months.

6-Month Update
We decided to go with the Europa Baby Palisades Collection for the furniture and Shermag Glider in Mocha all from Babies R Us.

After they delivered two of the same dressers and we had to wait another month to get the right tall dresser, we finally have all the correct furniture. Also, I managed to finally take down all the wallpaper border, so now my husband needs to get working on spackling, sanding, painting, etc. The plan is to have everything done by the end of June, since my shower is July 17th and we can spend July organizing.
I have been feeling great!!! A little back pain, which I know is normal. Still walking 2-3 times a week and pre-natal yoga here and there. I do feel like the last few weeks I have gotten a lot bigger but it is what it is. The baby has been moving around a lot...little jumping bean!!
Only 55 more days of work left and 110 days until baby l is here!!! The baby is about the size of an eggplant and is about 2 lbs!! So crazy!! We are set on a girl's first name but unsure of the middle name. As for a boy's name, we have a few that we like, so it is just a matter of decided on which one.
Time is ticking and I am just so excited for these next 4 months to fly by so we can meet baby l!!

Oh So Glam Interview

*What have you purchased so far for your little bundle of joy?
So far, we've only made one major purchase: the crib. I didn't anticipate buying it so soon, but it was a deal we simply couldn't pass up. My aunt has surprised me with a few things for the bean, like a few outfits, and I bought a hooded towel from PBK that I just couldn't pass up. Other than that, we are waiting until this summer to make the rest of the bigger purchases (car seat, dressers, stroller).
*What are some fears you have?
I have silly, irrational fears, like getting an epidural. Nope, the actual birthing process doesn't bother me one bit. I have a "it's gotta come out some way!" attitude towards labor/birth, but the idea of pain has been squirming in my seat. I have a low tolerance for pain, so I can't even begin to imagine what kind of experience this is going to be for me. I also worry about what life will be like once the bean makes his/her debut... will I have time for work? How am I going to balance being a mommy, a designer, a blogger, and a wife? I know that I'll figure everything out, and it should be a fairly easy transition with the help and support of my husband.
*If you could recommend one book or other preparation tool for new mom's what would it be?
Everyone considers the What to Expect When You're Expecting book the pregnancy bible, so I ran out and bought it as soon as I found out I was pregnant. It's really fun to read -- especially the milestones! -- but I certainly wouldn't refer to it as a pregnancy bible. I find that talking to other moms and my OB is a much greater resource than any book. Moms (especially those with little ones!) seem to be the most up to date on current laws and regulations (my mom swears drop-side cribs are still ok to use!), and can give unbiased reviews on the latest products... which is something that When You're Expecting doesn't do. I also found lucieslist.com to be particularly helpful.
*Tell us a little bit about the theme for your nursery...
Even though I'm a designer, this has been the hardest decision to make and I'm sure I'l change my mind 10 times between now and when the time comes to actually get the nursery started (and even then, I bet you I'll change my design direction with the room!). Regardless, I don't want a room to scream "baby" and I want the room to be something that can grow with the bean. In otherwords, I don't want a Winnie the Pooh room that I have to change in three years because my kid likes Transformers now.
We find out what we're having in two weeks (!!!), and for a girl I'd like to use soft colors like blush pink, a smoky teal, and canary yellow. I want to take it up a notch by adding punches of raspberry in the room. I found a super sweet crib skirt at Pottery Barn that I'd like to use, but I'm still undecided on crib sheet colors. If it turns out that baby bean is a boy, I'd like to use a smoky teal, gray and shades of green throughout the room. I'm thinking Vintage Steve McQueen/Vintage Car look throughout the room: very clean lines with vintage posters of cars.

Featured Vendor - Kayteedids Couture
Here are a few of my favorites:
Nursing Cover with Pocket
Q&A with Kate:
Why did you decide to start your own business?
My mom taught me to sew at a young age and I love carrying on that talent from her. When I had my daughter in 2009 my eyes were opened to the world of fun things to make for babies and moms! It started as me just making blankets for my own little girl and nursing covers for me but then people started placing orders and encouraged me to start an online shop! I love knowing that little ones are snuggled up with a Kayteedids Couture blanket somewhere out there!
What exactly does Kayteedids Couture entail?
I make 3 types of Baby Blankets:
· The Loop Lovey is 18”x22” with 8 fun ribbon loops attached for twiddling, chewing, and carrying!
· The Lovey is 18”x22” and is perfect for the carseat or stroller!
· The Blankie is 36”x36”
I also carry nursing covers that have been designed by me during my 19 months of breastfeeding and dealing with the flaws in store bought covers. A Kayteedids Couture nursing covers is larger, reversible, and can be thrown in with you normal laundry! No “laying flat to dry” because of plastic boning!
I also love to make boutique hairbows but I do this by request only. I can make a custom bow to match any outfit your little girl needs an accessory for!
I offer custom options for all of my items ranging from the customer beings hands off to being completely involved in the creative process.
What advice do you give to other female entrepreneurs?
It’s okay if you have “too many ideas”. Play around with all of them and you’ll find your niche. Your work should feel comfortable and you should look forward to working on your projects!
What are 3 things people don't know about you?
- I don’t like bendy straws! They’re never in the right place when I want to take a sip!
- My drink at Starbucks is a Grande 6 pump Vanilla Latte, No Foam, With Whip and 145 degrees. That or, a Grande Iced Tea, Half Black Tea, Half Passion Tea, Extra Sweet. High maintenance you say?? Only at Starbucks!
- When I turned 15 my dad said I could have a horse or a car…I chose a car. So my dad and I built a 1972 Volkswagon Bug from scratch. My license plate was KATESBG and we called him Herbie.
